Roman Forum
The Roman Forum is one of the most evocative places in Rome! Before the founding of Rome there was only a marshy valley, around 700 BC the transformation into a "Forum" began, a Latin word meaning "square" that connected several small villages. When Rome defeated Carthage in the Punic Wars, it became the ruler of the Mediterranean and the greatest power of the West, and the Forum developed to reflect its wealth. In the era of Julius Caesar and Augustus, the Roman Forum assumed its final shape along its main axis called "via Sacra".
